COUNTRYMANWHOODLES
FOOD (ACTION ITEM - ORDER)
Pup will be on a commercial raw food and a kibble (50/50). You'll have the opportunity to stay on raw food since they will have the robust microbiome for it (and therefore an awesome immune system), or continue on with straight kibble (I recommend staying on the current brands for at least 2 weeks during the settling period, then slowly switch to a different brand if you would like to). It is strongly encouraged to feed only in their kennel, or by hand, to establish positive kennel association and pack bonding.

CONTRACT
I will be preparing and emailing a contract with DocuSign to be electronically signed directly after their 7-week-old vet appointment.
EXAM (ACTION ITEM - CALL VET)
Please note that a "New Puppy Exam" is required within 72 hours of receiving your pup. It is a great opportunity to get a second set of eyes and to get the pup established with your vet. The average cost for this exam is $70. Please call to schedule soon, as most vets seem to have full schedules. You will have all original paperwork to hand to your vet the day of your appointment (Montana vet exam to include deworming/health). Also, be aware that your vet may push flea, tick, and heartworm medication! I have never seen vets give those medications to puppies under 20 weeks old besides clients of these last two litters, and neither one fared well. There are ALWAYS safe alternatives to toxic insecticides (refer to the Amazon list for ideas).
BEDTIME CRATE TRAINING
No food/water 2 hours prior. Put the crate on your nightstand or on the ground right next to you, if too big. Make sure the crate is only big enough for the pup to be comfortable lying down, and half-cover it with a sheet/blanket if they seem to prefer a "den" atmosphere. Place a used t-shirt with your scent on it, plus the supplied go-home heart beat lamb stuffy. Lights off immediately after being put in and your affirmation word "yes/good puppy!". Your hand slightly through the kennel as pup falls asleep is super helpful for the first couple of nights, if struggling! Pup doesn't go in until you're in bed for the night (don't leave the room to brush teeth, etc). Minimal lights when potty (IF alerts to being necessary, typically around 1am). All "business" during the middle of the night - no talking, do carry pup, no play. A white noise machine is helpful, if needed. Three nights and pup will be secure and confident with your bedtime routine.
GROOMING (ACTION ITEM - CALL GROOMER)
I highly recommend the first grooming appointment at 12 weeks old (and every 4-8 weeks thereafter to ensure vital behavior), while still within the important timeframe of brain subconscious formation. Make sure your groomer can provide a quiet experience in order to solidify the positive association. At home bathing, blow-drying, ear care, tooth brushing, and nail trims will prepare your puppy for a happy and successful grooming appointment.
TOXINS & OBSTRUCTIONS
Please familiarize yourself with poisonous plants and toxic foods/gum. Many things can lead to bowel obstructions; therefore, please remind kids to keep the house puppy-proofed and monitor puppy toys (I’m unfortunately speaking from experience with this one).
DESENSITIZATION & SOCIALIZATION CONTINUATION
Please review and utilize the attached list, which we have already been working on, to ensure a well-rounded dog. Also, here's my YouTube playlist for desensitization, perfect for playing during meal times or playtime. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGDNqdhQA_rKAUviScEIxNhqClR8VhLDw&si=ru4SWlD0QZN0HDL3
